Our Treasured Brands
Our pioneers include such legacy winemakers as Henry J. Lindeman, who first planted vines in the Lower Hunter Valley in 1843, and Mary Penfold, dating back to 1844, and her remarkable contribution to winemaking in Australia. And there’s Jacob and Frederick Beringer in the US, along with Andrea Sbarboro and the Asti winery dating back to the 1880s. Even further back in time is our 12th Century Castello di Gabbiano vineyard that has been producing astounding Chianti for 1,000 years. And today, our trailblazers, such as acclaimed winemaker Margo Van Staaveren of Chateau St. Jean and Bill and Ross Spence, founders of Matua Valley in New Zealand, with their country’s first ever sauvignon blanc, continue to surprise and astound.
Whatever corner of the earth our wines come from, whatever their vintage, we’re intensely proud of the legacies and our people that have created them, and of those who continue to perpetuate our remarkable winemaking story.
